Overheard
Hubby and I were reading books to Maddy and Libby before their nap today. Hubby was reading one called "Who Do You Love." It shows different animals and who they love. The bees love their majesty, the Queen; Bunnies love all of their baby bunnies; The Owl asks "Whoo, whoo, whoo do you love?"
Hubby asked Libby who she loved and she loudly and confidently replied "Meee!"
Gotta love it and I secretly wish that she will feel that way forever.

True love
Libby loves Fig Newtons. I mean really, really, really loves Fig Newtons.
We keep them in a glass canister on the kitchen counter and several times a day, she will typically run over to the counter, point, and say either "cookie", or "I want one."
Today, I had an appointment to get a haircut after preschool. Bad timing on my part, but my sitter had arrived and Libby asked for a Fig Newton. She let them have one and then told them that when they were finished, it was time for a nap. Libby was adamant that she wanted another cookie, but the sitter held firm (like I wanted her to) and told them that they could have another one when they woke up from their nap.
Somehow Libby ended up with a package of fig newtons (the small, 2 in a pack ones) and took it upstairs with her. When they woke up this afternoon, she was still clutching that little pack of Fig Newtons in her hot, little hand. I'm actually surprised she napped at all, knowing that she was that close to getting another cookie. I'm also surprised that she didn't figure out how to open up that package and have a little snack in bed.

That's my girl ...
It was "strawberry day" at our local Farmer's Market on Saturday, so we came home with over a gallon of fresh berries. As much as we love to eat them, I knew I had a few too many so I decided to make some strawberry bread instead of freezing them.
The recipe made two loaves so I took one to Maddy and Libby's school for the teachers and other students to enjoy at snack time. Well, I ended up with half the loaf leftover at the end of the day, so I put it on the counter with the other loaf.
When I came home from work, the girls had just woken up from their nap. Maddy was still a little sleepy and grumpy, so I was giving her a little snuggle time and Libby was standing in the kitchen.
I looked over and saw a sight that I never expected to see.
Libby had pulled the loaf of bread off the counter, unwrapped it, and proceeded to chow down. I promise that we do feed her!
I had to laugh and I also had to take a photo. I'm used to our dog's doing this, but I wasn't quite ready for my children. Oh, and no idea why her shirt was off. Lately, they have been in a routine of removing clothing whenever possible. It makes for fun mornings!

Dog
Harry, the Dirty Dog and Roses for Harry were some of my favorite books while growing up. Somehow, reading the Harry books with Libby just doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling like I expected.Probably because she points out every dog on every page. Let's just say that there is at least one dog on each page. Sometimes more, like 20.
Dog, dog, dog, dog, dog, dog, dog. We do find trees and birds in this one, but it's mainly dog, dog, dog, dog, dog.
Just asking for a little diversity is all.

"School"
I feel like all I do is write in " " lately. We went to the open house where Maddy and Libby will be attending "school" aka Parents Morning Out. I like that they are PC when it comes to the name.
About half of the students are attending 3 days a week, 3 of them are going 2 days a week like we will be, and then the other 2 are going only 1 day. I think they have 9 children on Wednesday's, but only 7 on Monday and Friday.
So cute ... the door is decorated with monkeys and a trailing vine with leaves. Each leaf had the name of a child in the class. We walked inside and found their very own hook! with name to hang up their little backpacks. Can you tell it's been a while since I've been in a classroom? We also know one of the teachers and she is wonderful. It turned out that we knew two of the other families in the class, so that is always reassuring. Another Dad is a Detective, so I know they'll be safe!
So cute and I love their little schedule ... outdoor time and music every day. The teachers talked about how they come in as babies and leave as toddlers. What??? My babies are growing up for sure. Maddy and Libby will be about in the middle as far as ages go for the class.
I'm a little worried about snack time. I have known that Maddy and Libby are great eaters. Lately, our sitters have commented about how much food they can put away, so I'm assuming that they are ahem, overachievers in this category. The school will provide a snack, but it will typically be Ritz crackers, graham crackers, goldfish, etc. I may need to sneak in a banana to go along with what is provided. Otherwise, we may have a tiny revolution from my two Generals who want to know where the rest of their food is!
One cute thing that I've noticed lately ... if you say "good job" to Libby, she automatically claps her hands. So adorable! Sigh. They grow up too fast, they really do.

Fangs
Libby now has four teeth ... her bottom two, and two on the top. Instead of her top front teeth coming in, her lateral incisors came in first.
Since I'm new at parenting and didn't really grow up around a lot of babies, I wasn't sure if this was "normal" or not. I guess it's the latter after visiting friends for their son's baptism yesterday and one shouted out, "Oh my gosh ... Libby has fangs!"
I haven't been able to get one picture that shows these little beauties, but it really is the cutest and funniest thing I have seen in a while. Has anyone else seen this happen in babies or should I be calling the orthodontist now!?

Ugh.
I have been dreading tomorrow all day long, and not for my own selfish birthday reasons. Libby is having her surgery to have her hemangiomas lasered. While the actual surgery part doesn't make me as nervous - they use a laser that will help reduce the size, lighten the color, and toughen the skin so the hemangiomas won't open up - it's the anesthesia.
I have kept myself from googling today and looking up scary statistics about anesthesia. I know as a rational adult that we have a great Pediatric Anesthesiologist who will take care of my girl, but as a Mom I can't help but worry.
We have to be there at 6AM for her 7:15 appointment. So, I'm asking for thoughts and prayers that everything will go smoothly and we'll be back home playing before she realizes what's going on.
** Update at 9:00 AM ** We are back home and everything is fine! Thanks so much for the messages, thoughts, and prayers. Libby charmed all of the nurses and 2 even asked to take her home! It was a quick procedure and honestly, we chatted with another family in the waiting room, then received our call that everything was done and fine. I picked her up from recovery and we were back on the road. Whew!
