Am I the only one in America (and possibly beyond) that just doesn't like American Idol? I have never watched an entire season and really have no desire. Sure, I can appreciate good singers and I'll give a shout out to the many North Carolinians who have done very well on the show.
But, I just don't get the infatuation.
I will say that I do like Kristin Chenoweth, so when Hubby has it on, I'll at least turn my head to see what she's saying. After all, if you can belt it out on Broadway as Glinda the Good Witch, then you have an idea of what makes a good singer.
So, I'll just stay on my little island watching some other bad TV show.

I can't stand American Idol. Painful to watch. I think I've watched about 20 minutes, total, in however long it's been on.
And yes, Kristin Chenoweth is AWESOME. I adore her!
The only season of American Idol that I've watching in its entirety is season 3, which was a long time ago. I like to watch the bad auditions, but that's it. I never really got the appeal of the show either.
I, too, do not understand the obsession. I think I voted the year Ruben won, only because he was a friend of a friend...other than that, I have plenty of other things to waist my time on...
So, might I join you on the island; is there room?
I will join all of you on the island! I have watched in the past but anymore I just can't watch (especially the auditions). They rarely show any of the good singers, just the horrid ones and I hate when they make fun of people. Also by not watching, I am freeing up two nights of my week not obsessed by my TV!
I don't watch it either. I think it absolutely boring.
I'm with you. I watched the first season and never watched again.
I too LOVE Kristen Chenoweth. Did you catch her on Glee? Wonderful!
Nope. Stopped watching it years ago!
No, we don't watch American Idol either. I think I did, for maybe one season. Everyone I know does, including my mom :)
I don't like it either. I just confessed this is on twitter last week. I was living in Europe during the first season so missed the craze and never got on the bandwagon. I also think they are unnecessarily mean in their feedback.
Totally agree with you. I used to think the audition shows were funny but now I just think they are a trainwreck. Like any of the "reality shows" the producers start making things more and more dramatic to keep people interested and eventually it takes away from the intended purpose of the show itself. And I can't stand Simon.
nope. I have never watched it.
I love your blog... I am kinda a blog stalker because I always read it when ever there is a new post. How did you get so many readers anyway? I am pretty sure no one besides my mother reads mine.
Anyway, I agree with you, I don't like American Idol either, so we can be on an island together. I watched the very first season when Kelly Clarkson won and that was enough for me. I also didn't know that Kristin Chenoworth was a judge now... that's pretty cool!
Have a happy weekend!
