A little art appreciation

I have always loved this painting and also the art of pointillism, which is easier said than done. One of my middle school art teachers made us try the technique and while I loved the way it looked, I had a hard time getting the teeny-tiny dots to look like much of anything.
What is your favorite painting?

I love this one too - and I remember doing the pointillism exericise in art class too, my mom still has the one I attempted to create!
Favorite painting - good question! We bought our first piece of art together as a wedding present...I'd have to say that paiting is my favorite.

I love that one too. My favorite is probably Lake at Annency by Cezanne. Or a Van Gogh. It is hard to pick.

I'm not sure if this is the real title, but the favorite painting I've actually seen is Picasso's man with mandolin. It's from his blue period and it's actually hanging in the same room as the Grande Jatte (sp?) that you've posted. They're both in the Chicago Art Institute and Picasso's is so amazing because when you look at it up close, you can see there's a completely other painting underneath. I guess he didn't like it so he just painted over it - tells such an interesting story of the artist.

Believe it or not, this is actually one of my favorites for sentimental reasons.

I'm still kicking myself for not buying a reproduction of it I recently saw in Home Goods.
