Is it just me?

Or does anyone out there have a thing for doorknobs? I have a friend who nearly caused a divorce over changing out every single knob in her home with $50 doorknobs. Ours don't match, but we have several that I think are original to the house. They just add charm.

So, some of the oldies look like this..

And our front door, like this...

We have a lot of these cool old keys that actually still work...

We just remodeled our house last year so we had to have all new doorknobs and I described what I was looking for to the contractor, and I came home one day and all these new doorknobs were on the doors and I HATED them. They were not at all what I described. I called my husband crying and said PLEASE do something. So he called the contractor and luckily they said they could use them in another house and for me to go pick out what I wanted. Apparently doorknobs are a lot more important to me than I would have thought.

I normally don't get all that emotional over this kind of stuff, except I was about 8 months pregnant, so that could explain a lot!

I'm getting an antique secretary from my grandma for Christmas this year, and the first thing I plan to do is replace all the hardware with those glass pulls from anthropologie. My fiance truly worries about how much I'm going to spend on doorknobs and other little touches after we buy our house next year!

Thanks for sharing, those are lovely!

I love the crystal knobs. I had a old home in Rhode island and all the doors had the same brushed nickel and crystal, I loved it!
