The tail will tell

I heard about this study yesterday and found the article on the NY Times. Apparently, the way a dog wags their tail suggests how they feel. Tail wagging to the right means "I'm happy, I'm comfortable" whereas tail wagging primarily to the left means "I'm not sure, I want to retreat". My question is, our dogs really do seem to wag their tails in a circle. What's up with that? Click here to read the article.

Oh yes, I read this in the Times just a few weeks back, and hubby and I have been testing the theory ever since. I think there's something to it: almost everyone our dog meets gets enthusiastic wags to the right, but our token slightly creepy neighborhood guy gets left sided wags every time!
